About this template

Design enquiries stall on one question: what does this actually cost. Answering it with a real number, before the discovery call, filters out the browsers and warms up everyone else.

Interior design fees are hard to publish because the service level varies so much. This template prices by rooms and project type, then applies the level of service, from e-design through to full project management.

Who it's for

Interior designers, e-design studios and design-and-build practices working on homes, rentals, renovations and commercial interiors.

Your questions, answered

Last updated 10 August 2026
  • 01 How much does an interior designer cost?

Per-room design commonly starts around £450 for online or e-design. Design and specification typically adds around 40%, and full service including project management can double the fee.

  • 02 What is the difference between e-design and full service?

E-design delivers the scheme remotely: layouts, boards and a shopping list you buy and install yourself. Design and specification adds detailed drawings and product schedules. Full service adds sourcing, ordering and managing the trades on site.

  • 03 Should I charge per room or a percentage of budget?

Per room is far easier to quote up front and easier for a client to understand, which is why this template works that way. Percentage-of-budget models tend to need a conversation first, and that conversation is what a quote form is meant to avoid.

  • 04 Can I quote for commercial spaces too?

Yes. Project type covers residential homes, rental and holiday lets, new builds and renovations, and commercial spaces, each carrying its own uplift for the extra coordination involved.

  • 05 Is there a downloadable interior design quote template?

Yes. As well as the free online version, you can buy the interior design quote pack as a spreadsheet for £7. It opens in Excel, Google Sheets or Apple Numbers, with the pricing maths already built in and a branded quote you can export to PDF. Buy once and it's yours to keep.
